Song Of The Week -3/1/14

Is Wednesday too early to be excited about my favorite song of the week?
To be honest, when I listened to it (on Monday), it won the crown. Im not gonna waste space by uploading the song, so I’ll just link it.

VOILA!: Childish Gambino – Sweatpants (Album Version)

So, I love this song primarily because it’s just fun. The first time I heard it, I was bopping around like a fool singing the hook:

Don’t be mad cause I’m doing me better than you doing you
Don’t be mad cause I’m doing me better than you doing you
Don’t be mad cause I’m doing me better than you doing you

And then you listen to the lyrics. The whole song, he’s just boasting like any other rapper. And you can’t be mad at him, because he asked you not to. He’s a strong lyricist, who doesn’t spend the song talking about his hardships. Actually, it’s quite the opposite, and he’s quite happy about it. My enjoyment comes from the fact that I cant help but want to feel like this. I just wanna smile and shake my shoulders and brush them off (are we still doing that?) as I pass an entire crowd of people and show my open hands full of all the fucks I give. That would be 0 fucks, btw. I think my favorite youtube comment I read of this was by user Crononaut who said: Singing “Don’t be mad cause I’m doing me better than you doing you” makes me feel ballin as fuck.
That’s a pretty accurate description. Whether or not you’re a Childish Gambino fan, just put it on really loud, don’t worry about who’s around, and sing along with him. It can be your new mantra.

And here are a few other Childish Gambino songs I like, if you need some waking up…

Share it Sunday – 2/23/14

MY MY MY, I haven’t been doing a good job at maintaining this blog.

Well, let’s not worry about that. This week’s SHARE IT SUNDAY is:

So, for all my followers out there, if you still own physical tapes, DVD’S or Blu-Rays, let’s see a picture of your eclectic film tastes. For those hardcore gamers, I’d like to see you prove it. Casual gamers are welcome to contribute as well.

Here is mine:

Most of my movies are on my external hard drive, taking up space in the digital world. As for games, I’m missing Batman: Arkham Origins, but it might be a good thing. I just opened a freshly delivered Beyond: Two Souls. I didn’t entirely need to make the purchase, but when you see something of quality marked as 50% off, you usually answer the call.

See you next Sunday!
